I also grabbed an Objective-C book: Learning Cocoa with Objective-C, 2nd Edition

I used that as an Objective-C primer. It helped out a lot.

I've also taken a look at the WordPress iPhone app for some real world examples.

Good luck!

The early part of your development experience sounds strikingly familiar. I have a ton of ideas that still haven't been implemented (AFAIK). But I couldn't get started. Objective-C was foreign the API docs were incomprehensible and I didn't do anything.

I have since grabbed the book Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X to understand the frameworks, the API docs and Objective-C. I am half way through the book and expect to be able to crank a few things out once complete. I am very impressed with XCode and the frameworks they have developed, and the book is excellent.

But I needed a starting point to anchor me before diving in and drowning.
