Brad and I were in the Lancaster Bicycle Club Covered Bridge Metric Century Ride. They had three rides to choose from, a 15 mile (25 km), 30 mile (50 km), and 60 mile (100 km) distances. Brad and I went for the 30 mile ride (he pushed me towards it). My longest ride before this point was a 15 mile ride. So, this was twice as long.
We rode the 30 mile track and had a lot of fun. I got pretty tired for about 4 miles near the end, but I had an energy gel and finished pretty strong. During our ride, we went through three covered bridges. The rain also held off long enough for us to finish the race and eat of food afterwards. We rode with a guy that Brad used to work with. He was very nice and told a ton of stories to pass the time quickly.
The new bike works perfectly. I was able to keep up with Brad and Steve. I was passing people, during the last triathlon, I didn’t pass anyone (on my mountain bike). We maintained a 15 mph average, and finished in just under 2 hours.
There were SO MANY people there. It took us about 20 minutes to get off of 30 and into a parking spot. We were in a long line of cars with bikes either on or in.
Overall, it was a good time.
